Adults

Christian are formed as disciples daily...progressively, and it’s important that we be equipped for mission and ministry. We want to encourage you to be life-long learners, to strengthen your commitment, deepen your faith, and equip you for ministry. Spending time in the Word of God, seeking “to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest” and its principles, changes us. To that end, we offer a variety of Christian education and discipleship opportunities including Rector’s Forum on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, a Women’s Bible study on Wednesday mornings, and special seasonal series and soup suppers during Advent and Lent. In addition, we hope all of our new members will take advantage of Every Member a Minister – a class to help identity how we’re wired and how we can move from “volunteering” to “ministering.” Those who are new to the Episcopal Church, will be invited to participate in “A Taste of Anglicanism” which serves as an overview and introduction to our tradition and an orientation to Christ Church.

Children

Our discipleship for children ages three and up is centered on Godly Play, a premier children’s experiential curriculum.

The Godly Play approach, based upon Montessori principles, helps children explore their faith through story, gain faith language, and enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play.

Godly Play…

  • is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance.

  • models the worship life, stories, symbols and rituals of our congregation and tradition.

  • nurtures participants to larger dimensions of belief and faith through wondering and play as it follows our liturgical calendar.

  • supports children in the three-year intervals based on the progression of language acquisition: “Hear it” (age3-6,) “Speak it” (age 6-9,) and “Think it” (age 9-12.)

  • teaches children understand how the stories of God’s people connect with the child’s own experience and relationship with God.

  • encourages curiosity and imagination in experiencing the mystery and joy of God.

Youth

Our CEC Youth Group is designed to give students a community in which they can explore their faith and grow in Christ’s love. Under the leadership of Brooke Barlow and Kathryn Caldwell, and other volunteers, the group currently combines middle (grades 7-8) and high-school students (grades 9-12). The Youth Group meets on Sundays following the service and hospitality. Come join in the fun!
