COMING UP
ALPHA
What if there were a safe place to ask life’s deepest questions? What if there were a truly comfortable, welcoming, and fun place for people to explore the Christian faith and enjoy a meal together? What if you were able to spend time with others in that place over the course of several weeks and develop warm friendships?
This is the kind of environment we seek to foster at CEC as we kick off a new eight-week Alpha Course this fall beginning on Wednesday, September 30 and running through Wednesday, November 18. Alpha was created and developed at a church in London and has now been offered around the world in churches, homes, schools, prisons, and even on-line to allow people to find the kind of place we all hope the church can be. It is widely considered as one of the most effective ways to foster a relaxed environment for talking about faith, God, Jesus, and life – not with the goal of imparting knowledge, but for true exploration and community.
Alpha is designed for skeptic and life-long Christians alike, and wherever one is on their faith journey, Alpha offers a non-threatening way to learn and grow. Take a look at the promotional video and register to attend!
New Wednesday Evening Discipleship Series Coming Soon!
We all love a good story. Stories draw us in, help us connect with one another, and often reveal things about ourselves and others we hadn’t noticed before. The same is true of our stories of faith. Each of us has experiences that have shaped our relationship with God — moments of grace and struggle, questions and discoveries, people who have influenced us, and times when we may only recognize God’s presence looking back. Make plans to join us at 6:00PM on Wednesday evenings beginning September 2 for “Tell Me a Story.” During the four-week series, we will listen to the stories of others, explore our own, and learn to share them in ways that are natural, honest, and deeply personal. We all have stories worth telling and sharing them helps us know God and one another more deeply while strengthening our sense of community and belonging.
Every Member a Minister, Saturday, September 12
Who am I? Why am I here? How is God calling me to serve? Every Member a Minister is a class that explores how God calls each of us through baptism to share in Christ’s ministry.
Together we will reflect on identity, purpose, and vocation, while discovering the gifts, passions, and experiences God has given each of us for service in the Church and in the world.
Whether a long time member or new to Christ Church, we hope you will make plans to attend on Saturday, September 12, 9:00AM–1:00PM. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Please register by clicking the button below.
